The part is an anodized aluminum machined two piece sphere that is 1.6 inches in diameter.
We used a 20 watt fiber laser with a 330mm lens and the beam expander in the reversed position in order to increase the depth of focus of the optics.
The spherical distortion correction in the Prolase software allowed us to maintain the actual shape of the logo as it marked around the sphere.

A Jimani Langolier Fiber Laser Marking System is a turnkey system for direct part marking just about anything The standard Z Axis adjustment will move the focusing lens as high as 29 inches above the point where the laser marking occurs. This system handles long focal length lenses, a variety of parts fixtures and large surface area or tall objects for marking.
The standard 19″ rack mount computer and Langolier Fiber Laser Controller are enclosed in the workstation frame making the unit completely self contained with the exception of a single 115 VAC household outlet. The Langolier open table system is mounted on locking casters and if need be, can be moved from one area of the factory to another without being anchored by water or high voltage connections.
